Spiritual Direction
Spiritual direction is the process of accompanying people on a spiritual journey. It is the contemplative practice of helping another person to awaken to the mystery called God in all of life, and to respond to that discovery in a growing relationship.
Spiritual direction is a time-honored term for a conversation with a director to explore and discover the ways God may be touching your life, directly or indirectly, in the everyday. Many people dislike the term "spiritual direction" because it sounds like one person giving directions, or orders, to another. They prefer "spiritual companionship," "tending the holy," or some other terminology. What we call it doesn't make any real difference. It is, quite simply, conversations about life in the light of faith.
In the words of Trappist monk Thomas Merton, “Spiritual direction is, in reality, nothing more than a way of leading us to see and obey the real Director — the Holy Spirit hidden in the depths of our soul.”
Spiritual Direction is offered at Our Lady of Victory on the third Wednesday of each month by Patricia Clock, who holds a Master of Divinity degree from Weston Jesuit School of Theology as well as a certificate in Spiritual Direction from the Center for Religious Development in Cambridge, MA.
Please call the Parish Office and leave a message for Patricia on ext. 118. She will call you to make an appointment.
