MISSION STATEMENT
Purpose:
The preeminent purpose of the Cenacle is to respond to the Blessed Virgin Mary’s persistent and urgent pleas for more prayers to bring individual souls, our Church, our country and the whole world back into relationship with God Almighty in order to mitigate against the evils plaguing our world for which God is most displeased.
The Cenacle would be entrusted and dedicated to responding to Mary’s persistent and urgent calls for prayer, repentance, fasting and making reparation for the transgressions of mankind at this time in the history of the world.
The Blessed Virgin Mary is the Cenacle’s patroness. As such, praying the Rosary is the most important component of the Cenacle’s raison d’etre and thus will be prayed during each session.
Secondly, during each session of the Cenacle, a presentation will be offered about some aspect of the theology of prayer and spirituality.
Thirdly, the Cenacle will hopefully help participants to develop and deepen their own personal prayer life and spirituality.
Membership: The Cenacle is open to all women from Our Lady of Victory and Our Lady of Hope Chapel, Our Lady of the Assumption. Pre-registration is not required. Rosary beads are recommended for each session.
Ministries: In addition to our basic mission of prayer as specified above, the Cenacle also participates in another ministry entitled the Cenacle Special Prayer Request List. There are so many people among our family, friends and throughout the world who are in need of prayers, that we have created a Special Prayer Request List. Names and intentions are identified by our members and then a notice is sent out to all members requesting prayers on these individual’s behalf.
Requirements: The Cenacle is designed to invite and encourage women to actively & more diligently pray in conformity with Our Lady’s wishes. The only voluntary expectation would be to pray the Rosary daily, to offer one’s intentions in accordance with those of Mary as well as for those based on the monthly themes/topics/intentions presented at each session, to pray for the people and intentions listed on the Special Prayer Request, as well as your own personal intentions.
Schedule and Times:
The Cenacle will usually meet twice a month, once in the evening and once in the daytime in order to provide all interested people with a choice that best fits their schedules. The meetings will be held on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 6:00pm and again on the 4th Thursday at
9:45am in the OLV Church office in Room M1 and are 1.15 hours long. The sessions will usually be two weeks apart but will contain the same content in both sessions.
